Utah men's tennis starts action tomorrow
SALT LAKE CITY – After a week to prepare, the University of Utah men's tennis team will compete in the ITA Mountain Regional, Oct. 19-23 at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas. Winners of the regional will advance to the 2016 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y., November 3-6, 2016.
David Micevski paces the Utah contingent in singles play as he is seeded No. 2 overall. Parker McGuiness (No. 11) and Slava Shainyan (No. 15) are slotted in the 9-16 seed grouping while Joe Woolley (No. 18), Santiago Sierra (No. 19) and Egbert Weverink (No. 21) are in the 17-32 seed grouping. Benjamin Heck, Dan Little and Azat Hankuliyev round out the Utah contingent.
In the doubles bracket, Dan Little and Shainyan are the No. 3 seed while the Utah duos of McGuiness/Micevski (No. 11) and Weverink/Woolley (No. 14) are in the 9-16 seed grouping. Hankuliyev and Sierra are the fourth and final pairing in action for the Utes.
