LAS VEGAS,NEV.- The Utah men's swimming and diving took first in the double-meet against Arizona and UNLV while the women's squad beat out UNLV but were topped by Arizona this Saturday.
The men's team defeated #20 Arizona, according to the CSCAA poll this week, 192-102 and UNLV, 187-113. The women's team defeated UNLV, 208-91 but were topped by #10 Arizona, 210-90.
"Overall, a tremendous team effort today. On the women's side, we gave Arizona some great racing. We couldn't get the win and got a great win over UNLV. I'm really excited that we had a lot of in-season best times, both from the freshman and upper class men; some of the best duel-meets they have ever gotten which is really encouraging considering how hard we have been training," said Utah head coach Joe Dykstra about the women's finish today.
"For the men, to move to 5-0 is a terrific team effort against two teams who were top 20 at NCAA's last year. It is a great accomplishment and we are feeling really proud.
