ERIE, Colo. - The University of Utah golf team wrapped up its first tournament of the season Tuesday in the final round of the Mark Simpson Invitational at the Colorado National Golf Club. The Utes improved to a 14th-place finish with a mark of 903 (302-297-304) after completing the first and second rounds Monday in 15th. Sophomore Daniel Engle continued to lead the team, tying for 60th with a score of 227 (75-72-80).
Junior Joe Webber improved to 62nd, posting a 228 (78-77-73), after sitting in 73rd following Monday's first and second rounds. Freshman Myles Sullivan was next to finish on the Ute roster, also tying for 62nd with a mark of 228 (75-77-76). Freshman Brandon Kida tied for 69th with a mark of 229 (81-73-75) while sophomore Ben Bankhead swung a 234 (74-75-85) to place 79th.
The Utes return to action Sunday at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo.
