ST. GEORGE, Utah - The University of Utah men's golf team finished fifth at the Utah Collegiate Shootout with a score of 577 (296, 281), one-over-par.
Freshman Camden Nicholson led the Utes with a eighth place tie after shooting a score of 73 in the first round and 69 in the second round for a total of 142.
One stroke behind Nicholson junior Chase Hite tied for tenth place with a score of 143 (73, 70). Kaleb Mahanes shot a two round combined total of 144 (74, 70), tied for 14th-place.
Junior Mike Branca tied for 28th place with a first round score of 76 and a second round of 72 for a total of 148. Derek Adams finished in 44th place with a two round combined score of 156 (79, 77).
Four Utes competed in the shootout as individuals sophomore Joe Webber closed the day with a tie for 17th place after shooting a Utah low round of 68 and adding a second round of 77 for a total of 145.
Jeff Kitches tied for 35th place with a score of 150 (75, 75). Manuel Ortega shot a two round total of 158 (77, 81), and Andrew Etzel finished in 49th place with a score of 161 (84, 77).
Up next for Utah is the Kauai Invitational in Kauai, Hawaii Oct. 26-28.
