The University of Utah women's soccer team wraps up a four-game homestand this week.
The Utes are 3-2-1 after taking a 3-2, overtime win over Idaho State last Friday and a 2-0 shutout win over Oregon Sunday.
Utah will host Cal Poly Thursday night, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. at Ute Field. The Utes will then welcome Washington to Salt Lake at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Utah has only faced Cal Poly one other time, falling by an 8-0 count back in 1997. The Utes are 2-0 all-time against Washington. Utah took a 1-0 victory over the Huskies in the last meeting in Salt Lake City in 1999 and won a 3-2 decision in Seattle the year before.
Opening Kick
After six games, Utah is the highest scoring team in the Mountain West Conference. However, the Utes are also ranked second to last in the conference in goals allowed through the first six contests.
Utah is averaging 2.00 goals per game. The Utes are allowing an average of 1.73 goals per contest.
Adele's Adept
Utah junior Adele Letro (Davis, Calif.) scored twice against Idaho State. She has now scored six times in six games this season and ranks No. 1 in the MWC and No. 8 in NCAA Division I in goals per game.
Letro had an assist in Sunday's win over Oregon, giving her 13 points for an average of 2.17 points per game, which ranks No. 1 in the MWC and No. 15 in the nation.
Letro has scored in nearly one-half (20-of 48) of her collegiate games. She now has five career multi-goal games and 13 career game-winning goals.
Kelly Kets Her Kicks
Utah sophomore Kelly Isleib (Park City, Utah) has developed a real reputation as a playmaker. Through six games, Isleib has six assists, including at least one in each of the last four matches.
Isleib is halfway to the Utah single-season record (12) already. With 10 career assists, she is also almost halfway to the Ute career record in less than two seasons.
Isleib easily ranks No. 1 in the MWC and No. 4 in NCAA DIvision I in assists (1.00 apg).
Jones-ing for a Goal
Utah sophomore Kiley Jones (San Clemente, Calif.) can sometimes go unnoticed in a match.
The defensive-minded player has been used as a midfielder and defender during her Utah career. According to head coach Rich Manning, she has been one of the more underrated players in the West.
But Jones had some time in the spotlight Sunday. She scored the Utes' first goal vs. Oregon, leading to a 2-0 Utah victory over the Ducks.
It was only the third career goal for Jones. But when she scores, Jones always seems to make the most of it -- the goal against Oregon was also her third game-winner.
Dilly Dalley-ing
Utah freshman Erin Dalley (Centerville, Utah) scored the lone goal in Utah's 1-0 exhibition win over Weber State last month.
But the talented forward hadn't found the back of the net through her first five regular season collegiate contests, despite starting all five of them. Finally, Dalley broke through with a goal to ice the Utes' 2-0 win over Oregon Sunday.
Dalley was a two-time all-state selection for Viewmont High School. She finished last season as the No. 2 scorer in the state.
