OREM, Utah - The University of Utah women's soccer team didn't miss two of its top offensive players, who were out with injury, Wednesday afternoon. Playing without leading scorer Adele Letro and top playmaker Kelly Isleib, the Utes hammered Utah Valley University 6-0 on the Wolverines' home field.

Utah (7-2-2) got off to a quick start, when freshman Lauren Hair (Alpine, Utah) scored unassisted in the 13th minute to give her team a 1-0 lead. Another Ute freshman -- Erin Dalley (Centerville, Utah) - scored less than 13 minutes later, getting through the defense and beating Wolverine goalkeeper Mallory Schott. Dalley's tally put Utah up 2-0 at intermission.

"We played very well for long stretches and we started off very strong," Utah head coach Rich Manning said. "Lauren Hair did a lot of good work. Danielle Sample got her first start and played a holding midfield. That made a big difference for us. A lot of people played and contributed, so it was an all-around good day."

Hair got things started for Utah early in the second half as well. Less than 10 minutes into the half, Hair took a nice feed from senior Chelsea Card (San Clemente, Calif.) and beat the keeper one-on-one.

Later in the contest, senior Paola Marsenaro (Kearns, Utah) scored her first career goal off a rebound, putting Utah on top 4-0 in the 79th minute. The Utes added two more goals in the final 10 minutes. Junior Katy Reineke (Salt Lake City) tallied her seventh goal of the season, while Card found the back of the net for the first time this season to account for the final tally.

Utah took a 28-12 advantage in shots. Fifteen of Utah's shots were on goal, while Ute goalkeepers Lynzee Lee (Soph., Kalispell, Mont.), Emalee Rogers (Soph., Centerville, Utah) and Amy Edman (Jr., Salt Lake City) combined to keep the Wolverines off the scoreboard. Utah Valley dropped to 2-7-1 with the loss.

Every one of Utah's healthy players saw action in the contest. The six goals and the six-goal victory were both the most for the Utes in Rich Manning's tenure. It was the most goals Utah had scored since a 8-2 victory over Wyoming in 2001.

The Utes are back in action again Saturday afternoon, when they travel up I-15 for a 1 p.m. contest at Utah State in Logan.
