Utah Opens Tourney With Pitt
The University of Utah women's basketball team will head back to the Northwest for the second time on the young season this week. The Utes will be playing in the University of Oregon's Thanksgiving Holiday Tournament in Eugene, Ore.
Utah opens the tournament in the first game of the event, taking on the Pittsburgh Panthers. Pitt is coming off a 75-62 win over St. Bonaventure. The Panthers are 4-0 on the season. Pittsburgh opened with a victory over Division II California of Pennsylvania. The Panthers followed up with a home win over Mount St. Mary's and a road win over Duquesne.
Utah will play either Boise State or Oregon on Friday in the second round of the tournament, depending on the outcome of the first-round contests. Boise State enters the tournament with a mark of 2-1, while Oregon is 2-0.

? Utah avoided the first-ever 0-3 start in its 33-year history with its defeat of Utah Valley State last Friday.

Sophomore guard Morgan Warburton (Helper, Utah) has led Utah in scoring in all three games this season. She has tallied a career-high for scoring in each of the Utes' last two outings. Coming into the season, her career-high was 14 points. She tallied 18 in a Nov. 10 loss to Fresno State. Warburton followed that up with a 25-point effort in the win Utah Valley State last Friday. Warburton is Utah's only player averaging in double figures (18.0 ppg).
Double-Double for K-Dub
Freshman forward Kalee Whipple (Hiko, Nev.) didn't take long to record the first double-double of her career. She tallied 10 points and 12 rebounds in last Friday's double-overtime victory at Utah Valley State. Whipple, the four-time Southern Nevada Player of the Year is no stranger to double-doubles. She averaged a double-double (25.3 ppg, 11.3 rpg) as a senior at Pahranagat Valley High School.
