Utah-Washington Fast Breaks

The Utah women's basketball team will be on the road Thursday for an in-state game in Ogden, Utah against Weber State after this game. But the Utes will be right back home to the Huntsman Center for a 7 p.m. game against nationally-ranked TCU on Dec. 11.
Utah Head Coach Elaine Elliott
University of Utah head women's basketball coach Elaine Elliott is in her 22nd season at the helm of the Ute program.
Elliott has a career record of 441-180. She is the winningest coach in Utah basketball history. Elliott has led the Utah women to 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, eight regular-season conference titles, three divisional crowns and five conference tournament championships. Elliott has been regarded for years as one of the best women's basketball coaches in the country. She has the longest tenure of any coach in the Mountain West Conference.
In 21 years, Elliott has had an astounding 20 winning seasons. She has been named her conference's coach of the year eight different times. Elliott has coached 28 first-team all-conference players and six players of the year.
Elliott was named the John and Nellie Wooden National Coach of the Year following the 2000-01 season.
Washington Head Coach June Daugherty
June Daugherty is in her ninth season as the head coach at the University of Washington.
Daugherty has led the Huskies to postseason play in all but one of her seasons in Seattle. Included in that total are four NCAA Tournament berths and an Elite Eight appearance in 2000-01.
Daugherty has compiled a 143-101 record at Washington. For her career, she has a 266-175 record in her 17th season as a collegiate head coach.
Prior to taking over the Washington program, Daugherty coached at Boise State for seven seasons. She compiled a 123-74 record with the Broncos and won two Big Sky Conference championships.
Utah Update
Shona Thorburn accomplished a rare double-double and four other Utes were in double figures Thursday night in an 88-66 victory over Utah Valley State.
Thorburn racked up a career-high 11 assists and tied a career-high with 11 rebounds to record a double-double the hard way. She was one point short of a triple-double, tallying nine points.
Kim Smith led all scorers in the game against the Wolverines. She tallied 22 points on eight-of-14 shooting. Freshman center Deanne Hanchett recorded a career-high with 13 points. Heidi Carlsen saw her first action of the season and responded with a career-high 12 points. Lana Sitterud tacked on 11.
Utah shot a season-high 46.9 percent from the field and out-rebounded UVSC 39-26. The Utes also took care of the ball, turning it over just eight times. Utah tallied assists on 25 of its 30 field goals in the game.
Scouting Washington
Washington is 3-2 and playing the first of a three-game road swing against the Utes. The Huskies opened with a pair of victories in the WBCA/BTI Classic in Seattle. One of those wins came over then-No. 14 Minnesota in a 72-67, overtime decision.
Since then, Washington has lost two of its last three. The Huskies dropped a 75-68 decision on the road at Michigan. They returned home for the Seattle Times Classic, defeating Wisconsin-Milwaukee 86-75 and falling to Alabama 76-56.
Four starters and six total players average at least 8.0 points per game for Washington. None of the Huskies is scoring in double figures per game.
Kristen O'Neill is the top scorer, tallying 9.2 points per contest. Jill Bell is the Huskies' top rebounder, pulling down 7.0 boards per outing.
