COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference announced its 2004 women's soccer all-league team and award winners Tuesday evening at its pre-championship banquet in Provo, Utah. Ute senior midfielder Tracy Stratton Garner and sophomore forward Amanda Feigt were named first team all-conference. Junior forward Kim Lloyd and freshman midfielder Kiley Jones earned second team recognition.
Garner, from Bountiful, Utah, has been a vital part of Utah's defensive efforts this season, helping the Utes rank first in the Mountain West in goals against average (0.91). She has also contributed a goal and an assist.
Feigt has a team-best five goals on 37 shots this season (.135 shot percentage). The native of Sandy, Utah, also has two game-winning goals and five assists.
Lloyd, a transfer from UC Irvine, has a team-best eight assists and two goals. She has missed the last two games with a season-ending knee injury. Jones, who hails from San Clemente, Calif., has four assists this season.
Senior forward Annii Magliulo of UNLV garnered Offensive Player of the Year honors, while San Diego State junior Alexis Solovij earned the Defensive Player of the Year award. Erika Woodbury of BYU was selected as Freshman of the Year. UNLV coach Dan Abdalla collected Coach of the Year accolades in his fifth year as coach of the Rebels. UNLV won its first-ever regular-season women's soccer championship this year.
Utah opens the quarterfinal round of the Mountain West Conference Championship against Wyoming on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at BYU's South Stadium.
