Colorado Springs, Colo.- The University of Utah men's golf team is leading after the first day of the Falcon Invitational. The Utes are atop the 24-team tournament after posting a team score of three-over-par (281).
Leading the way for the Utes and tied for the overall lead is Steve Newren who posted a first round 4-under-par (68). Garrett Clegg and Carl Jensen each posted a two-under-par (70), and are currently tied for sixth place. Casey Fowles is currently standing one-over-par (73), and Ashdon Woods put up a four-over-par (76).
The Utes head into day two of the three-day tournament with a two-stroke lead over UTEP (283), followed by Denver (284). Round two of the Falcon Invitational will be held on Saturday at the Eisenhower-Blue Course on the Air Force Academy campus.
