COLUMBUS, Ohio—Utah Golf showed fight in adverse weather conditions in their final round of play at the Columbus Regional
going from last place after day two, to sixth place (37-over total) to close out its 2025-26 season.
Despite the Utes' massive effort to get back in the game, they came just shy of the top-five cutoff to advance to next week's NCAA Final.
Utah had the best day three performance of the Columbus field, scoring 2-over after a rain delay paused the start of play in the morning.
"We played great today," head coach
Garrett Clegg said. "Was fun to see how incredible we played, but unfortunately, it was too little, too late. This is the second year in a row we finished one spot out of going to the NCAA Finals, which is a tough pill to swallow. We will need to keep working to improve for next season."
Brandon Robison led the Utes in their final day of play, carding 1-under 70 for a 12-over three-day total, and a tie for 36
th place.
Gabriel Palacios was close behind Robison, breaking even on the day and recording the highest finish in the tournament out of Utah's starting five with an 7-over total and tie for 17
th place.
Sergio Jimenez and
Jack Jerge stayed in the mix all day with Jimenez finishing round three 1-over 72 and Jerge 2-over 73.
Jimenez was Utah's second-best finisher through the tournament carding 10-over through all three rounds for a 10-over final score and tie for 27
th place. Jerge tallied 13-over for a tie at 41.
Davis Johnson concluded Utah's starting five posting 4-over 75 in round three, and a 17-over total.
"I cannot express enough gratitude to Brandon and Davis for how they have elevated the program in their time here," Clegg said. "Our departing seniors made a lasting impact that will carry out for years to come as we continue to take Utah Golf where we know it can go."
