EUGENE, Ore. – Senior
Claire Le Gallo picked up an event victory for Utah in the 5000m open race as the Utah track & field team closed out day one of the Oregon Team Invitational at Hayward Field.

Emily Junginger kicked off the day for Utah on the track, placing sixth-overall in the 1500m open race thanks to a PR run of 4:21.41.

In the 100m hurdles open section,
Rachel Bair posted 15.28 in section 1 of the event while
Glo Hussey followed up with a run of 14.81 in the following race for fourth-overall.

Freshman
Ellie Heslam competing in her first meet back in her home state of Oregon won her section of the 200m open with a run of 25.81 – which was good for seventh-overall. Meanwhile, teammate
Susmitha Jayanthi crossed the finish line at 26.43.

Over in the horizontal jumps Bair had her best leap on her first attempt, jumping a distance of 5.34m (17-6.25). Her second attempt yielded 5.21m (17-1.25) before fouling her third attempt.

Le Gallo led wire-to-wire in the 5000m open later in the evening, running solo for most of the race to secure the win with a time of 17:16.98. Â
Annastasia Peters led the charge for the trio of Utes that competed in the 5000m invite section, placing fourth-overall with a time of 16:06.94 – which was just off of her personal best. Teammate
Lindsey Peters was right on her tails down the stretch and took fifth with a run of 16:22.87 while
Josie Fale, the other Oregonian on the squad competing this weekend, finished in 16:36.27 for seventh to close out the night.
