IRVING, Texas – The weekly awards keep rolling in for the University of Utah softball team and
Shelbee Jones is the latest Ute to be recognized, as she was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. Jones shared the award with Arizona State's Meika Lauppe.
Â
Jones' week included throwing the 32nd no-hitter in program history on Wednesday, blanking Abilene Christian over five innings in a 13-0 Utah win. She retired the side in order in each of the first three frames and struck out the side in the second. A two-out walk in the fourth inning was the only baserunner the Wildcats would manage before Jones closed the afternoon in style. She added two more punchouts to her total in the fifth, including one for the final out, her ninth of the day. For the week, Jones threw 10 innings, allowed a single earned run and struck out 16.
Â
Jones is the third Ute to earn one of the conference's weekly awards in 2026.
Mia Gomez and
Danika Wilson have both taken home Big 12 Freshman of the Week awards. Jones is the first Utah hurler to collect a pitcher of the week award since Mariah Lopez in 2024.
