SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Gymnastics stars
Avery Neff and
Abbi Ryssman earn Big 12 Gymnast of the Week and Newcomer of the Week to bring the Red Rocks' recognition count to nine total on the season.
Neff accounts for five awards and Ryssman for three, while assuring at least one Ute has been recognized by the conference every week so far of the 2026 collegiate gymnastics season.
Neff repeated her career-high all-around score in back-to-back weeks, going 39.700 against Southern Utah after setting the mark the previous week against BYU. Neff's effort earned her a fourth straight all-around victory for 2026 and the fifth of her budding collegiate career.
The Utah sophomore wasted no time bringing the house down at the Huntsman Center posting the third perfect 10 of her career and her second on vault after the previous week posting a perfect 10 on bars. Neff went on to notch a 9.95 on bars, a 9.925 on floor and a 9.825 on beam to lift the Utes over SUU with their second-highest score of the season, 197.425.
The Red Rocks superstar added three more event victories (all-around, vault, and bars) to her resume bringing her career total to 24 victories, and her season total to 16.
Neff now ranks fourth in the country in the all-around (first in the Big 12), ninth on vault (first in the Big 12), tied 16
th on bars (tied second in the Big 12), tied 22
nd on floor (fourth in the Big 12), and tied 25
th on beam (tied fourth in the Big 12).

Utah's freshman 'wowed' last week on beam, setting a career-high 9.95 to steady the course after a fall in the routine before to take the event victory. It's the second event victory of the Utah Ryssman's career.

The Rochester, Minn. native is currently tied 14
th in the country on beam and first in the Big 12. Ryssman has also been impressive on bars in her debut season, currently ranking sixth in the conference after posting a solid 9.875 to help the Utes tie their second-highest bars score of the season of 49.625.
