LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Utah track & field team saw three Utes advance to the finals in their respective events at the Big 12 Championships on Friday at Rock Chalk Park.

The 800m trio of
Kyla Martin,
Bri Rinn and
Annie Ivins started the track events off for Utah on Friday with Martin and Rinn both earning a spot in the finals as time qualifiers while all three recorded new PR marks. Martin was the first to take the track, crossing the finishing line at 2:05.13 to improve her No. 6 spot on the all-time list at Utah.

Rinn made a push in the final 300m to take second in her section with a mark of 2:05.92 and earned the third time qualifying spot while also cracking the top-10 list at Utah. Ivins was fourth in her section with Rinn, checking in with a PR of 2:09.09.

In the 400m dash,
Emily Martin went neck-and-neck with Arizona's Ava Simms before ultimately taking second in her section but earned a spot in the finals with a time qualifying run of 53.40. Senior
Chloe Shewell competed in the very next section before finishing at 56.08 – just .03 from her personal best.

Sona Kourilova wrapped up day 2 on the track for the Women of Utah in the 3000m steeplechase with Chaston giving Utah a point in the scoring column with her eighth-overall finish of 10:16.94. Kourilova wasn't far behind her and just missed out on a new PR after crossing the finish line at 10:20.72 for ninth-overall.

Rachel Bair closed out the heptathlon with a new PR of 4,736 points on Friday to close out her first Big 12 Championships. Bair started the final day of competition finishing eighth in the long jump with a leap of 5.55m (18-2.5) in her second attempt.

She would follow up in the javelin with a throw of 24.57m (80-7) in her third attempt to settle for 374 points, giving the sophomore 3959 points with just one event remaining in the heptathlon. Bair closed out the 800m run with a time of 2:23.43 for 777 points to give her a new PR in the heptathlon.
