PHOENIX – The No. 14 University of Utah Men's Golf team climbed two spots after Saturday's final round of play at the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate in Phoenix, finishing 23-under and in sole possession of third.
Gabriel Palacios excelled once again, tying for fourth place for his fifth top five finish of the season.

Garrett Clegg said. "I'm really impressed with how great Gabriel has been playing, he just seems to be getting better every week. Brandon had another really strong tournament for his sixth top ten finish this season! As a team we were not quite at our best, however we have a lot of fire power and I'm proud of this group to finish third in a strong tournament. Looking forward to getting the post season going in a little over a week."
Palacios finished the course well after starting slow for the day, recording a pair of bogeys through the first four holes before finishing off the course with either even marks or birdies. The sophomore bettered his score with a birdie on the last hole of the front nine to move into the back half 1-over. After a couple of even scores, Palacios grabbed his second red mark and sunk another just three holes later. Palacios concluded the tournament with his 12
th birdie of the weekend to shoot 2-under for the day and 10-under for the tournament. With another exceptional performance, Palacios finished tied for fourth to claim his fifth top five placement of the season.
Brandon Robison put together a strong performance across the final round, posting a 4-under 67 to tally his sixth top ten finish of the season. The junior got things started with back-to-back birdies to begin the day, quickly sitting 2-under. After three even marks, Robison drilled another birdie to shoot 3-under through the front nine. Into the back nine, Robison collected two more red marks and a bogey within the first three holes to sit 4-under. The Utah native then totaled six straight even scores to finish 4-under for the day and 7-under for the weekend. Robison climbed 13 spots into a tie for ninth.
Davis Johnson recorded his second even round to total all three rounds at even or under par for the tournament. The redshirt junior sunk a birdie on the second hole of the course and later added another on the final hole of the front nine to sit 2-under heading into the final nine holes. After starting the back nine with four even marks, Johnson ran into three bogeys and a birdie, all on consecutive holes, before finishing with an even mark on the final hole. Johnson finished 2-under and jumped one spot into a tie for 28
th.
Braxton Watts had a hard time finding his swing on Saturday, tallying four bogeys and a birdie across the front nine before adding two bogeys, a double bogey, and a pair of birdies on the back end. Watts shot 5-over for the round and 1-over for the tournament, finishing in 38
th.
Sergio Jimenez used his best round of golf on Saturday, shooting even to slide into a tie for 54
th. Jimenez began the final round with a double bogey on the first hole but responded with four birdies and a bogey across the remaining eight holes of the front nine to shoot 1-under for the first half. The sophomore opened the back nine with consecutive bogeys before hitting a birdie two holes later. Another red and blue mark finished the course to conclude the tournament at 5-over.

Peter Jung tallied his second round under par, shooting 1-under to finish even for the tournament.

The Utes will head to their first ever Big 12 Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The three-day conference tournament will take place from April 22-24 at Southern Hills Country Club.
