SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
UCF holds a 15-6 overall record and is 1-2 in Big 12 play. The Utes and Knights have faced off just once, with their lone meeting coming in February 2007, when Utah fell to UCF, 5-2.
LAST TIME OUT
No. 52 Utah extended its win streak to four matches with a pair of 4-1 victories over UNLV and Weber State on Wednesday in Salt Lake City.
Against UNLV, the Utes secured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, then responded to an early singles setback with three straight victories. Emmett Potter and Dante Teramo each won in straight sets before Reid Jarvis clinched the match at No. 2 with a 7-6(8), 6-0 win.
Utah bounced back from dropping the doubles point against Weber State by dominating in singles play. Charles Frey and Nicolas Calixto gave the Utes the lead with straight-set wins at No. 5 and No. 6. Max Relic followed with a gritty two-set win on court four, and Jarvis once again clinched the match, outlasting Tristan Sarap in a third-set tiebreak.
With the wins, Utah improved to 13-5 on the season.
UTES IN THE RANKS
Utah is currently ranked No. 52 in the nation in the latest ITA poll, continuing to build momentum throughout the season. In singles,
Berk Bugarikj holds a national ranking of No. 97, showcasing his strong individual performances this season. In doubles,
Reid Jarvis and
Dante Teramo have earned national recognition, coming in at No. 74 in the ITA doubles rankings. The duo has been a strong presence at the top of Utah's doubles lineup, delivering key victories throughout the season.
HEAD COACH ROELAND BRATEANU
Utah Head Coach
Roeland Brateanu, the 2023 Pac-12 Coach of the Year and a five-time ITA Mountain Region Coach of the Year, leads the Utes for his eleventh season this spring. Under Brateanu's leadership, the Utah men captured the 2023 Pac-12 Regular Season title and secured their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance, advancing to its second consecutive second round appearance with a win over Old Dominion. The Utes finished with a 24-6 overall record and a No. 1 ranking in the ITA Mountain Region. Brateanu currently holds a 183-106 overall record at Utah.
