SALT LAKE CITY - The No. 52 University of Utah men's tennis team put together another dominant day on the courts Wednesday. The Utes secured back-to-back 4-1 victories over UNLV and Weber State to extend its win streak to four matches.
Utah saw a standout performance from Reid Jarvis, who delivered the clinching point in both contests after battling through tiebreaks. Jarvis secured the win against UNLV with a 7-6(8), 6-0 victory and clinched against Weber State in a 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(7) thriller.
UNLV
The Utes set the tone early in doubles play.
Emmett Potter and
Nicolas Calixto dominated at No. 3, securing 6-0 win over Joel Gibson and Vitaliy Horovoy.
Berk Bugarikj and
Max Relic then sealed the doubles point with a 6-4 victory at No. 2 over Thomas Navarro and Dusan Rsovac.
In singles,
Berk Bugarikj retired due to injury on the top court, awarding UNLV its first point. The Utes responded with three straight-set victories starting with Potter, who powered past Rsovac 6-2, 6-0 on court No. 4.
Dante Teramo then followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Navarro at No. 3, pushing Utah's lead to 3-1.
Reid Jarvis delivered the clinching point on court two. After narrowly defeating Illia Maksymchuk in a tight 7-6(8) tiebreak in the first set, he dominated the second 6-0 to secure the Utes' third straight victory.
The remaining matches were left unfinished.
WEBER STATE
Utah got off to a slow start in doubles.
Emmett Potter and
Nicolas Calixto secured a 6-4 win over Tristan Sarap and William Zulch on court No. 2, but Weber State claimed victories on courts No. 1 and No. 3, earning the doubles point.
The Utes bounced back in singles, starting strong with wins at No. 5 and No. 6. Charles Frey defeated William Zulch 6-4, 6-2 on court No. 5, while Nicolas Calixto followed with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Theo Mottier on court No. 6.
Max Relic extended Utah's lead with a hard-fought win at No. 4, edging out Liam Day 6-4, 7-6, and taking the tiebreak 7-4.
With the match on the line, Reid Jarvis came through once again, battling past Tristan Sarap in a three-set thriller. After taking the first set 6-4, Jarvis dropped the second 6-1. The decisive third set came down to a tiebreak, where he prevailed 7-6(7), securing Utah's 4-1 victory.
The remaining matches on courts No. 2 and No. 3 were left unfinished.

The Utes continue their homestand with three straight Big 12 matchups, hosting UCF on March 23, Baylor on March 27, and TCU on March 29.
