Spencer Fano Tabbed Outland Trophy Semifinalist

Award presented each year to the nation’s best college interior lineman
OMAHA, Neb. — Utah offensive tackle Spencer Fano has been named a semifinalist for the Outland Trophy, the Greater Omaha Sports Committee announced on Wednesday.

Fano is one of seven semifinalists from four conferences, with all being centers, offensive tackles or defensive tackles. The trophy is awarded annually to the nation's best college interior lineman on offense or defense and semifinalists were selected by The All-America Committee of the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). Fano is the second Ute in history to be named at least an Outland Trophy semifinalist following Jordan Gross, who was named a finalist in 2002.Â
The Spanish Fork, Utah native is an anchor on the Utah front that has been named Big 12 Offensive Line of the Week four times, along with earning Joe Moore Award Semifinalist honors. Fano was tabbed Outland Trophy National Player of the Week on Nov. 4 and was touted as a semifinalist for the Lombardi Trophy. Â

- Has 34 career games played with 33 starts (11 at LT, 22 at RT).
- Has allowed just five pressures and five hurries and has yet to allow a sack in 295 pass blocking opportunities, per PFF.
- 84.4 offensive grade from PFF is the best in the Big 12 (min. 330 snaps).
- PFF's highest graded offensive lineman from Week 10 (86.0).
- PFSN's highest graded offensive lineman from Week 10 (93.5).
- Blocked for an offense that put up 483 yards of total offense against Baylor, including 380 rushing yards and five scores on the ground.
- Helped Utah gain 587 yards of total offense against Colorado, including 422 rushing yards, the seventh-most in a single game in program history.
- Helped Utah rush for 276 yards on 6.6 yards per carry against No. 21 Arizona State, scoring six rushing touchdowns, tied for the fifth-most in a single game in program history; did not allow a sack against the Sun Devils.
- Blocked for an offense that put up 532 yards of total offense (242 rushing, 290 passing) at West Virginia.
- Helped Utah gain 492 yards against UCLA (286 rushing, 206 passing).
- Helped Utah gain 470 yards of offense (244 passing, 226 rushing) at No. 15 BYU.
- Part of the unit named Big 12 Offensive Line of the Week four times (Sept. 2, Oct. 13, Oct. 27, Nov. 17).Â
