AUSTIN, Texas – Seniors
Kathryn Grant and
Elias Petersen reached the finals in their respective events and earned a pair of top-eight finishes for the second day in a row as the University of Utah diving program competed at the Texas Diving Invitational at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on Friday.
Grant finished fourth on the women's 1-meter finals with a list score of 288.15 and Petersen placed eighth on the men's 3-meter with a 359.15.
Petersen opened the day for the Utes with a fourth-place result in the prelims, earning a season-high 372.75 list score. The senior earned his second eighth-place finish in as many days. Grant finished in fifth place in the 1-meter prelims with a 280.15 of her own before placing fourth in the finals with a season-high mark to finish top-five for the second day in a row.
Both senior divers logged top-eight finishes in the opening day of competition on Thursday, with Grant placing fifth on the women's 3-meter and Petersen finishing eighth on the men's 1-meter.
Attila Bernatsky and
Alex Just did not advance through the quarterfinal round in the men's 3-meter while
Callie Eaglestone,
Annalise Shrader and
Cierra Cole missed the cut on the women's 1-meter.
Looking Ahead
The Utah divers wrap competition in Austin with both men's and women's platform on Saturday, Nov. 15. Women's finals get underway at 9 am MT with men's finals starting at noon.
