SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 22-ranked Utah cross country team finished fifth-overall at the NCAA Mountain Regional and was led by
Erin Vringer's top-10 finish at the Regional Athletic Complex.
Vringer, like she consistently has all season, bided her time and passed a slew of runners in the final 3000m of the race to place eighth-overall with a run of 20:23.5 – which was also her highest finish at a regional race. This is the second time the Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, product has paced the Women of Utah this season.
Annastasia Peters was the next Ute to cross the finish line, posting a time of 21:11.4 for 25th-overall as Utah's second scorer. Holladay native
Millie Wilcox was right on her tails, crossing the finish line at 21:13.5 for 26th-place after passing four runners in the final kilometer at her first-ever NCAA Cross Country Regional after spending the last three seasons with the sprints team. It also marks the third-straight meet that Wilcox has finished as Utah's third scorer this season.
Lindsey Peters (21:18.0) and
Kyla Martin (21:20.3) weren't far back from Wilcox, crossing the finish line seconds after one another for 30th and 31st-place – respectively. Meanwhile, Freshman
Emily Junginger (21:25.2) and
Bri Rinn (21:43.1) rounded things out for the Women of Utah.
