AMES, Iowa – The Utah women's basketball team remains undefeated in Big 12 play as the Utes downed Iowa State 75-67 in Ames, Iowa.
Utah was led by Mayé Touré's season high performance of 24 points and had the game high of nine rebounds.
Kennady McQueen had a perfect game from beyond the arc going 3-of-3 and ended the game with 15 points.
GAME SUMMARY
Mayé Touré started the game going 5-of-5 from the field including two made from beyond the arc. Utah jumped out to an eleven point lead later in the first quarter and held on for a 23-17 lead going into the second quarter.
The Cyclones came out firing in the second quarter and tied the game up at 29-29. Touré hit her third three of the game while Samantha Crispe sunk a pair of free throws to help Utah finish out the second quarter for a 34-33 lead going into the half.
Iowa State took the lead for the first time in the game to start the second half but Gianna Kneepkens knocked one down from beyond the arc to keep the score in favor of Utah. The Cyclones held the Utes to a three minute scoring drought in the third quarter but Utah quickly answered with an 8-0 run. Utah's defense then locked in and held Iowa State to just one field goal in the final four minutes of the third quarter. The Utes were able to maintain and pull out for a 52-49 lead going into the final quarter of play.
The two teams went into the final five minutes of the game tied with a 58-58 score. Kennady McQueen hit back-to-back threes to give Utah the edge heading into the final two minutes. Touré followed that up with her fourth three of the game to keep the momentum going. With 45 seconds remaining, Utah had a 67-65 lead and Inês Vieira hit a three to kill Iowa State's momentum. Utah went on to end the game 75-67 for the win.
LEADERS
Utah had two players score in double figures and were led by Mayé Touré's season-high 24 points. Touré had a career-high of four made three pointers. She also led the team in rebounds pulling down nine on the night.
Kennady McQueen had herself a game with 15 points going 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.
Jenna Johnson had six assists to help Utah's offensive efforts while Inês Vieira had three steals to help Utah's defense.
COMPARISON
Utah shot 47.3 percent from the field while Iowa State shot 42.1 percent from the field. Utah went 50.0 percent from deep making 13-of-26 while Iowa State went 25.0 percent shooting 5-of-20. ISU's five made threes was the second lowest of the season for the Cyclones. The Utes went 10-of-12 from the free throw line for 83.3 percent while the Cyclones went 14-of-17 for 82.4 percent.
Utah had 18 assists on 26 made field goals while Iowa State had 17 assists on 24 made field goals. Iowa State narrowly outrebounded Utah 33-30. Utah's bench put up 14 points while ISU's put up just five.
NOTABLES
Utah is now 12-2 overall on the season and 3-0 in Big 12 play.
Utah remains undefeated against Iowa State and now has a 5-0 record in the overall series.
Mayé Touré now has 12 made three pointers on the season to tie her total number of made threes in her entire four seasons at Rhode Island.

Utah will continue Big 12 play by returning home to Salt Lake City Jan. 8 to take on Kansas State before hosting Houston Jan. 11.
