WALNUT, Calif. – Led by
Josefine Eriksen's record-breaking run in the 400m dash, the Utah track & field team had a solid day on the track filled with three total edits to the all-time record book to go with 10 PRs.
Bailey Kealamakia opened the day on the track for Utah in the 100m hurdles with a season-best run of 14.67 before
Harley Daniel posted a mark of 14.26 in her heat for a top-20 finish.
Eriksen then went out and ran the fastest time in program history in the 400m dash open section and secured the victory with a PR run of 52.36. Her mark broke a record that was held by Amy Tidwell since 1999. The rest of Utah's runners in the 400m dash also posted new personal best marks with
Chloe Shewell posting a 56.69 while
Madi Durrant recorded a 57.59.
Inspired by her fellow teammate,
Megan Rose also ran a new personal best in the 100m dash and crossed the finish line with a time of 11.89 to win her heat while also vaulting her into third on the all-time list at Utah.
Malia Overton was just a hundredth of a second off of her new PB, running a 12.21 while freshman
J'neya Hill ran a 12.28.
Back in the 400m hurdles,
Ally Gomm took the lead heading out of the final turn and secured the win with a PR time of 58.63 to win her heat and second-overall in the open section. The senior also saw herself move into sixth all-time in that even. Kealamakia was right behind to take second in their heat and seventh overall with a run of 59.52 – which moved her to ninth on the all-time list with the insertion of Gomm.
Back to the short sprints,
Emily Martin was the fastest amongst the five Utes in the 200m dash running a 24.32 in her heat. Rose was the next fastest for the Women of Utah with a PR mark of 24.81.
Malia Overton was the next fastest, checking in with a new personal best run of 25.25 followed by Durrant (25.95) and Hill (25.98) – who also had a PR.
