The Utes shot 3-over 875 to finish in seventh place while Brandon Robison notched a top 10 placement

CARMEL, Calif. – The No. 10-ranked University of Utah Men's Golf team concluded its 2024 fall season with a top 10 finish at The Preserve Golf Club Collegiate on Tuesday, shooting 3-over 875 to finish in seventh place while Brandon Robison notched a top 10 placement.

"It wasn't the tournament we wanted to have and would have loved to have finished the season a little bit better, but we had a great fall overall," said head coach Garrett Clegg. "I'm really proud of the fall that we've had, and we're looking forward to taking a little bit of a break and then getting back to work and getting prepared for the spring."

Robison led the way for Utah's squad, finishing the tournament in a tie for 10^th overall with three other competitors. Robison got the third round started with ten consecutive even marks before recording a bogey on hole No. 11 and added a birdie and another bogey three holes later. The junior finished strong, tallying back-to-back birdies on the final two holes to finish under par. Robison shot a consistent 1-under 71 in each round to total 3-under for the tournament while climbing three spots after the final round.

Sergio Jimenez recorded a bogey on the second hole of his round, and later added a red mark and a second bogey to finish the front nine 1-over. To begin the back nine, Jimenez recorded two consecutive bogeys but bounced back with birdies on two of the last five holes to shoot 1-over 73. The sophomore remained consistent throughout the tournament, posting a 1-over 73 in each round to finish in a tie for 28^th.

Gabriel Palacios finished right behind teammate Jimenez, jumping three spots to conclude the tournament in a tie for 31^st. Palacios commenced the final round with a bogey on the No. 17 hole, but added a birdie four holes later on the front nine. Over the last three holes of the front nine, Palacios recorded a birdie and a bogey to move into the back nine even. To close things out, the sophomore notched a bogey with six even scores to finish just 1-over for the round and 4-over for the tournament.

Braxton Watts was the third Ute to climb three spots on the leaderboard, getting the round started with a birdie on the No. 17 hole before two bogeys and a birdie pushed the senior level into the back nine. Two more bogeys across the remaining seven holes put Watts 2-over for the round and in a tie for 60^th.

Davis Johnson shot 4-over across the final 18 holes and finished in a tie for 62^nd.

Individual competitor Peter Jung struggled on the front nine to shoot 5-over for the day and in a tie for 44^th.

NEXT UP
The Utes will take some time off before beginning the spring season on Feb. 13-15 at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Lihue, Hawaii.
