Postgame Notes TCU 13, Utah 7 Salt Lake City, Utah (Rice-Eccles Stadium) Saturday, October 19, 2024 Kick: 8:35 p.m. MT | End: 11:59 p.m. Attendance: 53,299 (sellout)
 General
Prior to tonight, Utah had not lost three straight games in a season since 2017, nor had the team lost back-to-back games at home since that year.
Tonight's attendance of 53,299 marked the 87th consecutive sellout of Rice-Eccles Stadium, dating back to the 2010 season opener vs. Pitt. It was also the fourth-highest attendance for a game in the facility.
TCU won the coin toss and elected to receive. The Utes defended the North goal to begin the game.
 Offense
Tight end Brant Kuithe had a season-high six receptions for 56 yards; it surpassed Kuithe's five catches during the Arizona game.
Kuithe extended his reception streak to 39 consecutive games played, leading all active FBS tight ends while also ranking second in the Big 12 and fourth in FBS.
Wide receiver Money Parks caught a 71-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Isaac Wilson during the third quarter; it was Wilson's longest completion of his career and a career-long reception for Parks.
Parks finished the game with 79 receiving yards, just one short of tying his season-high (80 vs. Baylor).
Fellow wide receiver Dorian Singer had 52 receiving yards, including a game-long 36-yard reception. It marked Singer's third straight game with a 30-yard catch.
Running back Micah Bernard was the Utes' leading rusher for the sixth straight game.
 Defense
Safety Alaka'i Gilman tied his season-high with eight tackles (1.0 TFL), tying linebackers Karene Reid and Lander Barton. All of Gilman's 4.0 TFL on the season have come in the last four games.
Defensive tackle Simote Pepa had two tackles, both for a loss, with his 2.0 TFL going as his most since the Stanford game (3.0) in 2022.
Defensive tackle Keanu Tanuvasa made a three-yard TFL during the second quarter. All of his 4.0 TFL this season have come in his last four games played.
Tanuvasa made his second PBU of the night just before halftime, setting a new career-high.
Linebacker Karene Reid's eight tackles (0.5 TFL) were a season-high.
Defensive end Van Fillinger came up with a fumble recovery; it was his second as a Ute and first since the Colorado game in 2023.
Linebacker Johnathan Hall broke into the TFL column for the third straight game.
Linebacker Lander Barton is averaging 7.6 tackles over Utah's last three games (6 vs. Arizona; 9 at ASU; 8 vs. TCU).
 Special Teams
Tao Johnson blocked a TCU field goal attempt during the first quarter. It was Johnson's first career block and third for Utah this season (Van Fillinger vs. Baylor; Caleb Lohner at Utah State).
The last time Utah blocked three kicks in a season was in 2018.
OptaStats has Johnson as the first FBS player since at least 2012 to have both a blocked field goal (tonight vs. TCU) and a return TD on a blocked field goal (vs. Baylor) in the same season.
