OGDEN, Utah – Another solid meet to open the weekend of festivities for Utah, capturing a couple event wins to go along with new PRs at the Weber State Open on Friday afternoon.

The 100m hurdles crew kicked things off on a beautiful Friday afternoon with
Ruby Jane Mathewson taking second in her section and second overall with a run of 14.28 (aa) followed by
Bailey Kealamakia's PR time of 14.75 (aa).
Rachel Whipple ran in her first 100m hurdles collegiately and posted a time of 14.76 (aa).

Utah's 4x100 crew of
Lauren O'Banion,
Maya LeBar,
Megan Rose and
Kelise Davis came out all business and won the 4x100m relay by nearly a second at 46.77 (aa). Â

Over in the 1500m run,
Lauren Peterson crushed her previous best mark with a second-place finish at 4:26.31 (aa) while
Ellie Lundgreen came in at 4:42.04 running in her first 1500m race.
Maddie Reed also ran a new personal best time, crossing the finish line at 4:46.41 (aa) while
Natalie Platil came in at 4:51.89 (aa).

Back to the sprints,
Oneillia Fuller was the first six-consecutive Utes to cross the finish line from second to seventh in the 400m dash. Fuller took second overall in the race with a time of 55.94 (aa) followed by
Lauren O'Banion at 56.28 (aa),
Brooklyn James at 56.62 (aa),
Jasie York at 56.75 (aa), Davis at 57.08 (aa) and
Makenna McCloy at 57.70 (aa). Meanwhile, freshman
Chloe Shewell posted a mark of 1:00.07 in the 400m dash as an unattached runner.

LeBar closed out the meet for Utah with a victory in the 100m dash behind a PR time of 12.05 (aa) while
Taylor Watson was fifth overall at 12.34 (aa). Rose was just a second shy of her personal best, crossing the finish line at 12.39 (aa).

The Women of Utah now return home for its annual Utah Spring Classic held at the McCarthey Family Track & Field Complex. Field events will begin at 10:30 a.m. while the track events begin at Noon. Senior ceremonies for Utah honoring its eight seniors is slated to start at approximately 2:20 p.m. or after the completion of the men's 200m dash.
