EUGENE, Ore. – The Utah track & field team had a solid showing at the Oregon Relays on Friday at Hayward Field to go along with some new PRs as well.
Â
Regan Crofts opened the day at Hayward Field with the second-best throw of her career and narrowly missed another PR with a toss of 43.36m (142-03). Over on the long jump pit,
Delaney Gates continued to improve each jump and recorded her best leap of the day on her third try at 5.30m.
Â
Brooklyn James got the contingent of Utes competing on the track off with a good start by winning heat 1 of the 800m race with a time of 2:11.10 while
Jasie York came in third thanks to a new PR time of 2:11.63 after just setting a new PR earlier this Monday at the Weber State Twilight.
Whitney Hessler had the fastest time among Utes with a mark of 2:09.74 in the second heat while
Sarah Newton wrapped things up in the third heat.
Â
With the sun setting and temperatures dropping,
Maya LeBar and
Kelise Davis finished 1-2 in the 200m dash with LeBar edging out Davis by three tenths of a second (24.70) – which was just short of her PR. Davis' mark of 25.00 was a new PR for the freshman.
Sophie Ryan wrapped up the evening for Utah at Hayward Field in the 1500m and crossed the finish line with a 4:31.71.
Â
Utah will now drive north to Portland where it will have a handful of student-athletes race at the Portland Twilight on Saturday, May 8, at Griswold Stadium.
