Dunkle Qualifies for NCAA Golf Championships

STANFORD, Calif. – Utah senior golfer Kyler Dunkle qualified for the NCAA Championships on Wednesday after tying for sixth place at the NCAA Stanford Regional, shooting 6-under-par over three days of competition.
Dunkle becomes the first individual golfer to play at the NCAA Championship since Dustin Pimm in 2006. He qualified for NCAA's by finishing as the top player at the regional who did not qualify as part of a team.
"The conditions were tough today!" Dunkle said. "We knew what the forecast was going to be and we got lucky it only rained for the first part of the day! The wind was up all day and then really started to show its teeth after nine holes! I played really good golf all day. I started out strong with birdies on the first two holes and then played steady golf the rest of the round. My ball striking was awesome for the entire round and I made some key putts at different parts of the round. It feels incredible! It gives me confidence that all my work at home with the rest of the team is starting to pay off! I'm really excited to get to Arkansas and see if I can give it a run!"
Dunkle finished the third round 2-under par with four birdies on the day.
"Incredible day for Kyler – he was awesome today," head coach Garrett Clegg said. "The conditions were extremely difficult. The wind was gusting 15-20 miles per hour and he hit the ball incredibly well. I'm so impressed by how he kept his composure."
The 2019 NCAA Championships will be held at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas, from May 24-29.
