Men's Tennis Completes Comeback Against Miami to Win, 4-2

IOWA CITY, Iowa –The University of Utah men's tennis team was able to notch a victory today on their Midwest road trip against the University of Miami with a score of 4-2. With this win, the Utes will move to an overall record of 6-2 on the season.
"I'm very proud of the guys today," said head coach Roeland Brateanu. "After a really tough trip to get here, without a great preparation and starting the match slow with probably our worst doubles performance of the year, the guys fought like lions today and earned themselves a really good win."
After dropping the doubles point to Miami, the Utes were able to mount a comeback in singles. Down 2-0, the start of the comeback came from Dan Little on the No. 1 court, as he defeated the 13thranked Adria Soriano with a score of 7-5, 6-4. Mathias Gavelin then tied the score up 2-2, with a win at the No. 6 position over Franco Aubone, coming away with a score of 6-1, 7-5. Then, after dropping the first set, David Micevski was able to rally back at the No. 2 spot, as he was able to defeat Francisco Bastias, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1, to put the Utes up 3-4. Slava Shainyan then sealed the 4-2 victory for the Utes at the No. 3 spot, topping 58thranked Bojan Jankulovski in a competitive match with a score of 7-6, 3-6, 6-1.
The University of Utah men's tennis team will be back in action tomorrow to close out their Midwest road trip, as they will take on Iowa at 10 a.m. MT.
