LOS ANGELES - Utah Swimming and Diving had a successful second day of competition at the Bruin Invitational this afternoon.
Coming off a fifth-place finish in the one-meter dive, freshman
Tony Chen took second in the three meter today. He improved three spots from the prelims with a final round score of 392.8.
Rylan Little and
Daniel Theriault both improved upon their prelim scores with Little moving into the top 10 and Theriault also jumping up three spots.
"We had a very good second day here," head coach
Richard Marschner said. "Tony had a tremendous final round that should place him in the top five all-time at Utah and he will be in contention to win the event at Pac-12's and NCAA Zones.
The women all had solid performances on tower and dived consistently even though there were many distractions at the pool today, namely the UCLA pep band playing incredibly loud. Clare had her best score on the platform and we hope she continues it tomorrow because it should be another strong day for us."
Clare Greenlow had another strong performance and finished two spots ahead of teammate Makenzie Caufield. Freshman Georgia Brookstein narrowly missed the top 20 of a very loaded field.
The invitational concludes on Sunday with women's one-meter and men's platform. There will be a 15-minute break between each of the preliminary and final rounds that all gets underway at 10:30 a.m. from Spieker Aquatics Center
The Bruin Invite has just short of 100 entries from 15 schools. The Utes are competing against squads from Air Force, Denver, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Hawai'i, Cal Baptist, UNLV, California, Fresno State, UC San Diego, Cal Poly, Northern Arizona and San Diego State
