SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah men's tennis team comes into this week with a national ranking of 32
nd overall, as they will be on the road for two Pac-12 conference matches in California. On Friday, the Utes will be paying a visit to Berkeley, as they will take on the 34
th ranked Cal Bears (8-6, 1-2 Pac-12). Then on Saturday, they will travel to Stanford to take on the 4
th ranked Stanford Cardinal (16-2, 3-1 Pac-12) to wrap up play for the weekend.
The Utes come into this week boasting an overall record of 19-2, being 2-0 in Pac-12 conference play. With this record, the Utah men's tennis team currently sits at No. 2 overall in the Pac-12 conference standings, two games back of No. 2 UCLA.

Utah Notes
In their most recent match, the Utes were able to pull off a comeback victory against Arizona State. The Utes came in as an underdog against the Sun Devils, as ASU was ranked No. 34, and the Utah men's tennis team came in at No. 39. The Sun Devils were able to get an early lead on the Utes by taking the doubles point.
Joe Woolley and
Egbert Weverinkwere the only ones to earn a victory for the Utes, beating out Makey Rakotomalala and Andrea Bolla with a score of 6-4 at the No. 2 position.In singles play, the Utes started their comeback.
Randy Cory started things off with a quick win on the No. 5 court, topping ASU's Tim Ruehl 6-2, 6-4.
David Micevski then put in a win of his own at the No. 2 spot, defeating Benjamin Hannestad with a final score of 7-5, 6-3.
Dan Little then followed with a win at the No. 1 spot to tie the match at three games apiece, topping Michael Geerts with a score of 7-5, 7-5. With one final match remaining, the win was in Sierra's hands. After dropping the first set 6-3, he came back to even things up with a 7-6 victory in the second set. With the entire match on the line, he was able to take the third set, 6-2, to complete the Utah comeback.

Cal came into last week being ranked 13
thoverall in the country, but was swept in a road match against No. 4 UCLA this past Saturday. UCLA secured the doubles point after Redlicki and Evan Zhu upset the 13th-ranked duo of Griffith and senior J.T. Nishimura,6-4, on court one and then the 33rd-ranked Austin Rapp/Keegan Smith topped Cal freshmen Ben Draper/Jack Molloy, 6-4, on court two.The Bruins doubled their lead to 2-0 in singles when the 45th-ranked Smith topped Molloy, 6-3, 6-4, on court three. Cal trailed 3-0 when Nishimura lost to No. 102 Evan Zhu, 6-4, 6-4, before UCLA ended the match on court one. Cal captured one set on the day, as Draper trailed No. 66 Logan Staggs 6-3, 4-6, 2-2 on court four when the match ended.
The No. 4 ranked Stanford men's tennis team is coming off of a 4-2 victory over last week's 14
thoverall nationally ranked USC Trojans. The Trojans struck first, securing the doubles point in a battle that went to a tiebreaker. Stanford and USC traded wins at No. 1 and No. 2, withTom Fawcett and Axel Gellergetting the win for the Cardinal. USC's Daniel Cukierman and Tanner Smith sealed the point at No. 3, with a 10-8 win in the tiebreaker. A win at No. 6 singles put the Trojans up, 2-0, before Stanford seized momentum in the match. Geller got it started with a straight-set win at No. 2 and Sameer Kumar followed moments later with a straight-set victory at No. 3.In a top-10 matchup, Fawcett, ranked No. 10, and No. 9 Brandon Holt of USC staged a three-set battle. The Cardinal senior rebounded from an opening-set defeat with a pair of 6-3 frames to win it and push Stanford ahead for the first time in the match. All eyes went to the No. 4 and No. 5 matches. Fomba (No. 4) and Wilczynski (No. 5) both dropped the first set of their matches, but each stormed back with second-set wins. They continued their momentum with multiple-game leads in the third set. Fomba sealed it first with the 6-2 victory in the third set. Wilczynski was up 5-1 in the third set with match point coming up when Fomba clinched it.
