STANFORD, Calif. – After a long wait while dodging rain drops for most of the day, the University of Utah women's tennis team fell to the No. 25 ranked Stanford Cardinal with a final score of 0-4. With this loss, the Utes move to an overall record of 8-6 on the season.
Starting with singles, Stanford picked up wins at the Nos. 1, 2, 4 , and 5 spots to capture the victory.
Whitney Turley suffered a loss at the No. 5 spot to Emma Higuchi, with Stanford's Janice Shin defeating
Taylor Calton at the No. 4 position to put the Cardinal up 2-0. Then on the No. 2 court, Caroline Lample topped
Brianna Chisholm to put Stanford on the brink of clinching at 3-0. The No. 17 ranked player in the nation, Michaela Gordon, then sealed the victory at the No. 1 spot over
Alexia Petrovic, to complete the 4-0 sweep for Stanford.
The Utes will be back in action later today as they will travel to Berkeley, California, to take on the Cal Bears at 1 p.m. MST. A live stream for the match can be found at:
