SALT LAKE CITY –The University of Utah men's tennis team will begin fall competition this week, as they will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, to compete in the ITA Regional tournament. The ITA Regional Tournament is scheduled to run through October 15-19. More than 80 players from 17 western teams will compete here this week at the 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Region Men's Championships to be held at the Fertitta Tennis Complex and then Darling Tennis Center.

A day of qualifying will take place Monday on the UNLV campus before the event moves to the Darling starting Tuesday. Each day's action begins with doubles play at 9:00 a.m. PT. There will be consolation draws in singles and doubles to ensure each entrant at least two matches. The finals are set for Friday on center court starting with doubles at 11 am.

The ITA Regional Championships feature more than 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete across 85 ITA Regional Championships around the country. In Division I, regional doubles champions and regional singles champions and finalists qualify for the season-ending Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Surprise, Arizona.

After the ITA Regionals, the Utah men's tennis team will compete in three more tournaments before the spring season starts on Jan. 12 against BYU. The tournaments they will be competing in are, the Gonzaga Invitational (Oct. 26-28), the Gopher Invitational (Nov. 2-4), and the LMU Invitational (Nov. 9-11).
