Salt Lake City--Â University of Utah women's tennis will travel to Provo to face in-state rival BYU (2-4) at noon on Friday. The Utes dominated the Cougars in last season's duel with a 7-0 victory at home.
Utah notes
The Utes are coming off a tough run at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Ala. The Utes fell to top seed  No. 5 Texas Tech in the first round, 4-0, followed by losses to Tulsa and Tulane.
The Utes head to Provo 2-1 on the season. They recorded wins over New Mexico, 5-2 and Wisconsin, 4-0, in their first weekend at home, but are winless on the road so far this season, as they dropped their lone road match at Fresno State, 5-2. Taylor Calton and
Jena Cheng recorded a win in No. 2 doubles and
Alexia Petrovic and
Whitney Turley added a win in the No. 3 doubles spot. Four Utes recorded victories in singles competition to seal the victory. Against Wisconsin, the Utes recorded three solid doubles wins before Petrovic, Calton, and
Margo Pletcher each added a singles win by a score of 6-1, 6-1.
Opponent notes
The Cougars began their dual-match season with a win over Weber State, 7-0, before falling to Missouri, 3-4, and Denver, 1-6. They also picked up a home victory over Boise State, 4-0 before dropping matches to Hawaii and Long Beach State. The Cougars are 2-1 at home.
