SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah men's tennis team will make a short road trip down to Provo this week as the Utes are set to match up against Brigham Young University (5-3) this Thursday.
The matchup against the Cougars will be held at the BYU Indoor Tennis Courts with play beginning at 5:30 p.m. MST. Last season, the Cougars defeated the Utes 5-2 in Salt Lake City as Jamey Bourgeois of BYU clinched the match over
Jamey Swiggart in three sets at No. 5 singles.
Utah Notes
Utah Men's Tennis went 3-0 this past weekend after defeating Denver on Saturday with a 6-0 sweep, then finishing off the weekend on Sunday by defeating Northern Arizona 6-1, and sweeping Montana State 4-0. Against Northern Arizona and Montana State,
Azat Hankuliyev and
Slava Shainyan went 2-0 on Sunday with key wins in doubles play, along with
Egbert Weverink and
David Micevski going 2-0 in doubles as well. In singles action against Montana State, Weverink, Little, Wooley, and Micevski all quickly finished singles play by winning in straight sets as the Utes concluded play against Montana State, going undefeated on the weekend.

Brigham Young picked up wins over regional opponents Montana State and Northern Arizona in a double header this past Saturday for a 3-0 record at the BYU Indoor Tennis Courts. Sophomore Matthew Pearce clinched the match for BYU over Montana State while junior John Pearce clinched his second match of the weekend over Northern Arizona.
