SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's tennis team will conclude fall play this Friday, Nov. 10 at the San Diego State Fall Classic in San Diego, CA.
Competition is set to begin this Friday and run through Sunday, Nov. 12.Â
"I am looking forward to finish out the fall in San Diego," said Utah head coach
Mat Iandolo. "We are going to use it as a springboard as we head into the off season."Â
The Utes will be competing against seven teams. The teams that will be competing this weekend are host San Diego State, SMU, Colorado, University of San Diego, Air Force Academy, Cal Poly and SLO.Â
LAST TIME OUTÂ
Utah competed almost a month ago where they hosted the ITA Regionals on Oct. 11-15.Â
Whitney Turley put up an impressive showing in singles play. She came away with a win over Daniela Cozzi of Southern Utah, 6-1, 6-0. She would later defeat Chiara Tomasetti of Northern Arizona (6-4, 6-3) and  Meredith Jones of Air Force, taking her down in two sets (6-0, 6-3).
She also teamed with sophomore
Leah Heimuli to defeat Pac-12 foe Colorado, 8-6. The duo would later take down Idaho, 8-4 and BYU, 8-3.
Margo Pletcher and
Brianna Turley also won in doubles play against Utah State, 8-3.Â
B. Turley recorded a victory of Hannah Jones of Utah State 2-1 (5-7, 6-1, 6-1) and Huibre-Mare Botes of Idaho State (6-4, 6-4).
Alexia Petrovic picked up a win in against Elizabeth Barnickel of Air Force in two sets (6-2, 6-1).Â
UP NEXTÂ
Following the conclusion of fall play, the team looks to start the spring season on January 13-14 as they travel to Honolulu, HI. to take on Florida State and Hawaii. The Utes will open Pac-12 play by hosting Arizona State and Arizona on March 9th and 11th. They will conclude their season in Boulder, Colo. on April 21 where they will take on the Buffaloes.
