SALT LAKE CITY - Utah head track and field coach
Kyle Kepler has released the 2017-18 schedule, which includes a home track meet on April 6.Â
"I believe we have put together a high quality schedule that will allow our team to compete at some outstanding venues against the competition they will need to grow and improve throughout the year," Kepler said. "We are once again excited to host the seventh annual Utah Spring Classic on the first Friday evening in April. That meet has produced several NCAA qualifying performances and some terrific head to head competitions under the lights at McCarthey Family Track & Field."
The indoor schedule features three meets at Washington - the UW Invitational (Jan. 26-27), the Husky Invitational (Feb. 9-10) and the MPSF Championships (Feb. 22-24). The NCAA Championships are held March 9-10, in College Station, Texas.
Grayson Murphy will be looking to repeat as an All-American in the 5,000.Â
In outdoor, the Utes travel to meets hosted by conference foes USC (Trojan Invitational, March 17) and Stanford (Stanford Invitational, March 30-31). Other big meets include Mt. SAC Relays (April 19-20) and Drake Relays (April 27-28), with student-athletes also competing in local meets hosted by Weber State, Utah Valley and BYU. The Pac-12 Championships is hosted by Stanford on May 12-13. The NCAA West Preliminary is hosted by Sacramento State from May 25-26 with the NCAA Championships contested in Oregon from June 6-9. Murphy placed fifth in last year's 3,000 steeplechase to earn first-team All-America honors in the event.
Amanda Gehrich (1,500) competed in the West Preliminary round last season.Â
