Colorado Springs, Colo.- Utah diving wrapped up competition this weekend at the Air Force Invitational with
Josiah Purss and
Amanda Casillas highlighting the action.
"I'm happy with how the team competed this weekend," said Utah head diving coach
Richard Marschner. "Daniel was outstanding in setting two personal bests on three-meter and platform while qualifying for zones. The women did a great job in a huge field of over 60 competitors with Amanda securing a top-five finish in all three events. Ā This was the last big tune up before Pac-12's and I'm excited to see how we do in Federal Way."Ā
Earlier today, Purss took first on the one-meter (360.75) with
Connor Cain taking third (298.00). Theriault took ninth (263.30). On Friday, Purss stepped on the podium as he took third (326.10) in the three-meter.Ā
Casillas took fourth on the one-meter and the platform event during the first day. On the one-meter, she tallied a total score of 277.90 and came away with a score of 213.40 on the platform. The senior also took fifth on the three-meter with a score of 285.30.
Lauren Hall took 10th (254.70) on the event.Ā
Daniel Theriault finished second on the men's platform event, coming away with a total score of 303.55, and sixth on the three-meter (304.20). Meanwhile,
Makenzie Caufield was 11th (200.20) on the women's platform.
The women's swimming and diving team returns to dual-meet action on Feb. 11 in Pullman vs. Washington State.
