SALT LAKE CITY - To close out its regular season, the Utah women's swimming team will take on the Washington State Cougars this Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Gibb Pool. The meet is set to begin at 12 p.m. MT.
"We are excited to close the regular season for the women against a very strong WSU squad," said Utah head coach
Joe Dykstra. "We hope to race well and come away with a hard fought win that carries us into the Pac-12 Championships."
UTAH NOTES
The Utes fell to both No.20 UCLA and No. 6 USC at the beginning of January.
At UCLA,
Genevieve Robertson took first in the 100 and 200 breast. She came away with a time of 1:04.37 in the 100 and in the 200, she touched in at 2:15.44. In the Pac-12 rankings, she has the 18th fastest time in the 200.
In the 200 fly,
Isabella Kearns was second with a time of 2:05.37. Other second-place finishes for the Utes were put up by
Jordan Anderson in the 500 free (5:02.46) and
Mallori Allen in the 100 back (57.85).
Against USC, the squad won six events but was topped, 138-106.
Stina Colleou was first in the 200 breast touching in at 2:16.80.
Kat Wickham would take first in the 500 free (5:07.92) and
Darby Wayner won the 100 fly (57.25).
This year, Colleou has five first-place finishes in the 200 breast. She has the fifth-fastest time in the Pac-12 and the 15th fastest time in the nation. Her time of 2:09.90 was set this year on Dec. 3 against Boise State.
Jordan Anderson earned another win by taking first in the 200 IM. She touched in at 2:05.70.
To finish out the meet, Utah captured the 400 free relay as
Dorien Butter,
Sarah Lott, Wayner and
Gillian St. John finished with a time of 3:31.19.
LAST TIME AGAINST WSU
The women took on WSU last season at home and dropped a tough one, 149-145.
Robertson took first in the 200 breast (2:17.35) while Colleou was first in the 100 breast (1:04.43).
A relay team of
Megan Kawaguchi,
Genevieve Robertson,
Jenna Marsh and
Gillian St. John took first in the 200 medley by touching in at 1:43.72.
In diving,
Lauren Hall took first in both the one-meter (262.42) and the three-meter event (272.02).
To finish out the meet, Rhianna Williams, St. John,
Darby Wayner and
Dorien Butter took first in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:28.17.

This will be the women's last meet of the regular season. The Pac-12 Championships will be held in Federal Way, Wash. from. Feb. 22-25.
