At the National Collegiate Tennis Classic last weekend, Utah came close to winning the singles and doubles titles.
Â
Individually, David Micevski rolled through a quarterfinal against Pepperdine's Gabriel Sidney, 6-4, 6-3 and then rallied past fellow Wave Pedro Iamachkine in three sets. Micevski could not beat a third PU player in the final, falling to Stefan Menichella.
Â
In doubles play, Joe Woolley and fellow Brit Dan Little rolled through teams from Boise State, San Francisco and Pepperdine to reach the finals. However, they narrowly missed out on a title to the Van Slyke/Menichella duo from UP, 6-4.Â
Opponent Notes

Weber State also opened up their season last weekend in Provo, losing 6-1 to BYU. Last year, the Wildcats posted a 12-9 record en route to a Big Sky Conference Championship, and a first round loss in the NCAA Tournament to no. 3 UCLA. The Wildcats return 4 players from last year, while adding 3 freshmen.
