Utes have 18 named to All-Academic team.
SAN FRANCISCO - Led by first-team selection Nikki Rietz, 18 Utah track and field athletes were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic track and field teams, announced today by the conference office.
Rietz is a four-time Pac-12 All-Academic track selection and is on the first team for the second-straight year. The senior has 3.94 grade point average and recently completed her degree in exercise and sport science. She competed at the Pac-12 Championships in the 1,500.
Named to the second team was junior Courtney Jost and sophomore Sadie Wassum. Jost, who has a 3.71 grade point average and is majoring in health promotion and education, ranks in the top 10 all-time at Utah in the long jump and triple jump. Wassum has a 3.73 grade point average and is majoring in exercise and sport science.
Earning honorable mention honors was senior Allison Aafedt, junior Alissa Atisme, senior Andrea Chavez, sophomore Shaylen Crook, senior Ali Eisenbeiss, junior Grace Englund, sophomore Sarah Feeny, sophomore Dakota Grossman, sophomore Raynee Helm, sophomore Madison Lanford, sophomore Hannah McInturff, senior Katelyn Stringfellow, junior Christine Van Brocklin, sophomore Mesa Weidle and junior Rhianna Williams. Aafedt, Chavez and Eisenbeiss recently completed their degrees at Utah.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and be a significant contributor.
