LAWRENCE, Kansas - Utah's Sarah Feeny and Andrea Chavez closed out the NCAA West Preliminary Track Championship for the Ute track and field team after competing in the 1,500 on Saturday morning. Feeny finished 19th with Chavez 32nd.
Feeny ran a time of 4:24.22, finishing fifth in heat two. Chavez had a time of 4:29.45 and was eighth in heat two.
Eight of the 12 qualifiers in the 1,500 for the NCAA Championships are from the Pac-12.
"Our race plan did not pan out today, which was disappointing," Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said. "Congratulations to Andrea on finishing out a great career. She ranks in the top six all-time at Utah in both the 800 and 1,500 and finished seventh in the 800 at the Pac-12 Championships as a sophomore. She helped the Utes qualify for the NCAA Championships in cross country earlier this year and is a Drake Relays champion. We'll miss her leadership and experience on the track next year."
