SALT LAKE CITY - Four Utah track and field athletes have qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Championships, hosted by Kansas from May 26-28. The Utes will be represented by freshman Andrea Chavez and sophomore Sarah Feeny in the 1,500, senior Ali Eisenbeiss in the 800 and freshman Chrissy Glasmann in the javelin.
Chavez and Feeny both reached the finals in the 1,500 at the Pac-12 Championships, with Chavez finishing 10th overall and Feeny placing 12th. Chavez ranks fourth all-time at Utah in the event with a personal-best mark of 4:19.87, done earlier this year. Feeny's personal-best time of 4:18.24 ranks second all-time at Utah. Chavez is seeded 19th in the event with Feeny seeded 27th.
Eisenbeiss has a career-best time of 2:05.84 in the 800, which ranks third all-time at Utah. She finished 13th in the preliminaries in the 800 at the Pac-12 Championships. Eisenbeiss is seeded 37th in the event.
Glasmann has a season-best throw of 158'10" (48.42m), which she did at the Utah Spring Classic earlier this year, and ranks second all-time at Utah. She finished 16th at the Pac-12 Championships and is seeded 26th in the event.
The top 12 athletes in each event will advance to the NCAA Championships, hosted by Oregon from June 8-11.
