Second Round Results
TUCSON, Ariz. - The Utah men's golf team is in 14th-place at the National Invitational Tournament following the second round of play at the Omni Tucson National.
Utah finished the second round of play with a score of 10-over par (298) and head into Tuesday's final round with a two-day score of 14-over par (292-298=590).
Santa Clara leads the tournament after the first two rounds of play after carding a second round 1-under par (287) to have a two-round score of 11-under par (278-287=565). Nevada (-6) is behind Santa Clara in second place, New Mexico (-4) follows in third place, while Iowa State (-3) and Wyoming (-3) round out the top-5 teams in a tie for fourth place.
UTEP (-1), Arizona (-1), Colorado State (E), New Mexico State (+1), UC Davis (+2), Stephen F. Austin (+4), Notre Dame (+8), and San Jose State (+9) are currently ahead of the Utes.
Junior Gentry Hicks is currently in a tie for 30th-place after shooting 3-over par (75) in the second round. Hicks heads into the final round of the event leading the Utes with a two-day score of 2-over par (71-75=146).
Senior Jonathon Thomas recorded a 1-over par (73) in the second round, while senior Jose Pelayo shot a 2-over par (74) to end the second round. Thomas (76-73=149) and Pelayo (75-74=149) are currently sitting in a tie for 48th-place at 5-over par.
Rounding out team play for the Utes were seniors Brandon Kida (+6, 71-79=150), who is in a tie for 53rd-place, and Steven Croft (+7, 75-76=151), who is in a tie for 59th-place.
Playing as an individual in the event, freshman Trent Hill carded a second round 1-over par (73) to head into the final round with a score of 9-over par (80-73=153).
The Utes will close out the tournament on Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. MST. Live scoring will be available via https://www.birdiefire.com.
