Salt Lake City—University of Utah women's tennis will conclude fall play in Providence, R.I at the upcoming Brown Classic, which will begin Nov. 4 and run through Nov. 6. The Utes will join Arkansas, Boston College, and host Brown in the tournament. Utah will start off competition against Brown 10 a.m. on Friday, followed by Boston College on Saturday and Arkansas and Yale on Sunday.
The Utes head to the Brown Classic following a difficult run at the ITA Mountain Regionals held at New Mexico on Oct.12-16. Junior Margo Pletcher, the No. 8 seed at the tournament, fell in the quarterfinal round of the main singles draw to Nevada's No.17 seed Shelia Morales, 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (2). The doubles duo of sophomore Taylor Calton and junior Jena Cheng came up short in the quarterfinal round falling to Jocelle Rudico and TJ Fumagalli of Air Force, 8-2, who were seeded 12th.
Following the conclusion of fall play, Utah women's tennis looks to start the spring season on Jan. 13-15 at the FGCU Invitational in Fort Myers, Fla. The Utes continue competition throughout February, including the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Ala., and will begin Pac-12 Conference play on March 10 and 11 with a weekend in Arizona to face Arizona and Arizona State.
