Utes earning degree at 87-percent clip
INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA's 2015-16 Graduation Success Rate (GSR) was released today and reported that 87-percent of student-athletes at the University of Utah graduated within six years from the time they enrolled as freshmen, its highest mark ever
Also announced was the Federal Graduation Rate (FGR), which revealed that Utah's student-athletes over a four-year period, are graduating at a higher rate than the U's general student population by three percentage points (64%-61%). Note: The reason behind the difference between the NCAA and federal graduation rates is that the former makes adjustments for circumstances such as church missions and transfers.
Utah had the best (or tied for the best) GSR in the Pac-12 in six sports and all of them achieved a perfect score (softball, gymnastics, men's tennis, women's tennis, volleyball and golf). It marks the sixth-straight year that the gymnastics team and both tennis teams received perfect scores. Men's basketball and men's swimming & diving each placed second in the Pac-12 with 92-percent GSR's
Twelve Utah teams, baseball, men's basketball, football, golf, men's swimming & diving, men's tennis, women's basketball, cross country/track, gymnastics, softball, women's tennis and volleyball, exceeded the overall Division I GSR for their sport.
