SALT LAKE CITY - Utah golf tees off its second to last tournament of the season this week at the Redhawk Invitational, hosted by Seattle University, in University Place, Wash. Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
The Course
The Redhawk Invitational will be held at the par-70, 7,341-yard Chambers Bay Golf Club, the course that will be hosting the US Open Championship in June.
Format
An 8 a.m. PDT shotgun start will begin the tournament on both Monday and Tuesday. Thirty six holes will be played Monday, followed by the final 18 on Tuesday.
The Field
Utah will be among the 18 teams participating in the tournament, including Boise State, British Columbia, Cal State Fullerton, Drexel, Fairleigh Dickinson, George Washington, Incarnate Word, Missouri-Kansas City, North Dakota State, Rutgers, Seattle U, Seton Hall, South Dakota State, TCU, Utah Valley, Washington and William & Mary.
Last Time Out
The Utes finished in 6th place at the Duck Invitational in March. The squad posted a three-round total of 891 (290-306-295) as three Ute golfers placed in the top 30.
Junior Brandon Kida lead the squad throughout the tournament and finished three over par at 219 (70-74-75) and tied for 11th. After swinging a low mark of 72 in the third round, junior Max McGrail found himself in a tie for 28th with a total of 223 (74-77-72). Senior Jack Maerki managed to tie for 30th place with a score of 224 (72-78-74). Juniors Jonathon Thomas and Jose Pelayo rounded out Utah's lineup, tying for 33rd and 71st, respectively.
