SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah golf team prepares for its final regular-season tournament of the spring before the Pac-12 Championships. The Utes travel to Santa Barbara, Calif., to participate in the 2015 OGIO-UC Santa Barbara Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at the Sandpiper Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday. Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
The Course
The tournament will be held on the scenic par-72, 7,068-yard Sandpiper Golf Club.
Format
The teams will play 36 holes on Monday, April 13 with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start. The final 18 holes are on Tuesday, April 14 with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. on holes one and 10.
The Field
Utah will be competing against seven other teams, including host UCSB, Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State, UC Riverside, Boise State, Cal State Bakersfield and Northern Colorado.
Last Time Out
Utah earned an eight-place-finish at the Redhawk Invitational at the Chambers Bay Golf Club last week with a three-round score of 914 (296-304-314).
Junior Jonathan Thomas, who led the squad through the tournament, posted identical first and second rounds of 74 and a third round of 77 to tie for 24th with a score of 225. Junior Brandon Kida finished tied for 34th with a mark of 228 (74-76-78), while Justin Mortensen swung a 231 (74-78-79) to tie for 39th. Rounding out the Utah lineup was junior Steven Croft in a tie for 42nd and junior Max McGrail in a tie for 53rd.
