SALT LAKE CITY - Utah senior Rosalie Waller was selected to the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District Track and Field Team for Region 8 this afternoon.
Waller has been recognized as one of the nation's top student-athletes for her performances on the track and in the classroom by the College Sports Information Directors of America. She currently owns a 3.99 GPA and is majoring in biomedical engineering. She was recently awarded the Bud Jack Award which is presented to the senior female student-athlete at Utah with the highest GPA.
Fresh off a second-place finish at the Pac-12 Championships, Waller is competing in the 800 meters at the NCAA Preliminary Championships this weekend in Fayetteville, Ark.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the third year of the expanded Academic All-America program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
