SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Utah Track and Field's Amanda Mergaert will compete for the Utes at this weekend's NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Mergaert, a senior All-American in both cross country and track, has qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 1500 meters for a third-consecutive year.
Last weekend in Austin at the NCAA Preliminaries, Mergaert ran the fastest time in the trials, winning her heat in 4:19.08. She advanced to the quarterfinals and finished nine-hundredths of a second off her best time of the season placing fourth in her heat and seventh overall with a time of 4:15.19.
Mergaert will race in the 1500 semifinals on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. MT. If she is able to advance, the finals of the 1500 meters will be at 3:20 p.m. MT on Saturday.
